Students at Pinecrest High »Ê¹Ú×¢²á and North Moore High »Ê¹Ú×¢²á Break Out the Paint at »Ê¹Ú×¢²á Community College Automotive Program
There is nothing like a car show in the southeast featuring premier and pristine vehicles from years gone by. Recently students from Pinecrest High »Ê¹Ú×¢²á and North Moore High »Ê¹Ú×¢²á rolled up their sleeves at the »Ê¹Ú×¢²á Community College (»Ê¹Ú×¢²á) in the automotive department’s paint bays to get work on a car that will be featured at an upcoming car show in Pinehurst on Saturday, April 19.
“It was great to have the students here today to get hands on experience with our equipment and sprayers to work on the car,†said Brian Garner, Department Chair for Transportation/Collision Instructor. “What’s really cool is that several of the students who visited are already enrolled to attend the college starting this fall in our program. We are super excited to have them interested in our growing program and high demand jobs that turn into careers.â€
Quint Dunlap, an »Ê¹Ú×¢²á alumnus, and high school instructor regularly brings his students to campus to collaborate with »Ê¹Ú×¢²á’s Automotive and Collision Repair programs, providing them with valuable hands-on experience. “Having the chance to use the equipment and work alongside college students and faculty is such a great experience for our students,†said Dunlap. “It’s amazing to have access to an entire auto shop and collision repair at »Ê¹Ú×¢²á Community College for our students and future generations of talent.â€
The car they are painting in a fun style and design was donated to the program for the students to work on. The car they are painting will be on display at the »Ê¹Ú×¢²á Car show on Saturday, April 19. Students from the High »Ê¹Ú×¢²á programs, current »Ê¹Ú×¢²á students, and community car culturalists will be in attendance. Show is free to spectators with plenty of parking. Auto Shop tours at »Ê¹Ú×¢²á Community College during the show will be available at Sirotek Hall.
